Title:
The Substitution Term of PMDK into SNMPTN-Through-Invitation

Issue:
PMDK (University Entrance by Ability) is an entrance way to enter university by submitting students’ first until fifth semester report. It generally makes high school students, especially the smart ones, can enter universities they want a lot easier.
Unlike last year, our government now had issued a ministerial regulation to substitute PMDK into SNMPTN-Through-Invitation. Those have similar meaning, but the new term is much simpler than PMDK. In SNMPTN-Through-Invitation, all high school students may apply 6 majors in 2 different universities. All applicants come from school listed in the SNMPTN 2010 system database with accreditation A or B, that are coordinated with the schools and recommended by the Principal.

Argument ‘for’
Those who agree with the new regulation said that SNMPTN-Through-Invitation brings more opportunities to high schools which didn’t get any opportunities on registering their students to join PMDK. Besides, through SNMPTN-Through-Invitation applicants only need to do online registration once in order to choose 6 among 6 majors. Moreover, it is cheaper than PMDK. Pay one for six.

Argument ‘against’
However, there are some that disagree with the new regulation, especially those who come favorite schools. Due to the number of seats provided, schools are allowed to register only 50-75% of all students. Moreover, many students want to register more than only two universities. Applicants are prohibited either join written SNMPTN or recall the application they had submitted into SNMPTN-Through-Invitation after the announcement.

Conclusion:
So far, this substitution provides more opportunities for students, yet it requires limited seats. Overall, this is not bad at all. However, government needs to evaluate it in order to avoid distinctness among applicants and to provide the best services for them.
